The journey of Tasty Teas began with Ms. Hilda Forbes, whose deep connection to traditional Bahamian bush teas grew out of a personal journey of healing and discovery. After a challenging health diagnosis in 2002, Hilda found inspiration in a dream that led her back to her roots and to the herbal blends her family had used for generations. Guided by faith and tradition, she began crafting herbal teas using native plants and fruits known across the islands for their refreshing and soothing qualities. What began as homemade teas sold at local markets quickly became something much larger, as island residents and visitors alike fell in love with her creations.

Her son, John “Jay Jay” Forbes, joined her in 2013, bringing his own energy and passion to the mission. Watching people embrace the teas with joy inspired Jay Jay to expand their efforts. Together they transformed their home into a full-service tea production facility and welcoming visitor space in downtown Nassau’s historic Delancy Towne district — a place still beloved by locals and travelers today.

Tasty Teas now produces a variety of signature blends and tropical drinks that are all-natural and additive-free, made from the vibrant flavors of Bahamian fruits and herbs. Their creations are enjoyed not only on site but also in retail outlets across The Bahamas.
